Vietnam, known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in full, is a socialist country in Asia. It covers an area of about 330,000 square kilometers and is close to the South China Sea. The coastline is more than 3,260 kilometers long. It is a multi-ethnic country with the Jing nationality as the main body of the country. The Vietnamese Communist Party is the only legitimate ruling party in the country. Vietnam is also a member of the Association of South-East Asian Nations.

The Thirteenth Congress of the Republic of Vietnam held a plenary meeting in Hanoi. In the morning of 31 March the plenary session of the eleventh meeting of the thirteenth National Congress took place in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was elected as Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Commission. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan is the first woman in the Vietnamese Congress, and is also the first woman to step into the top leadership of the Vietnamese party and the country.
